You haven’t seen or heard anything until you've spent a Saturday afternoon with 102,455 orange, bleacher stomping maniacs at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, TN. They will deafen you as they will their Volunteers on toward a victory. Nor have you seen or heard a gladiator like atmosphere until you’ve witnessed the ebb and flow of the Cotton Bowl filled to capacity, split equally in half, by the crimson Oklahoma Sooner and orange Texas Longhorn fans in the 119 year running, Red River Rivalry. Both settings can put warm chill bumps on a stone cold slab of concrete.
The past few months, MVP soft-launch events have placed me in powerfully large and exciting settings for sure, but they also walked me into God spaces and places where I witnessed strength of a different kind. I saw incredibly gifted leaders intentionally gather with no agenda other than to take a break from their insanely busy schedules, to have some fun and to encourage and pray for each other’s needs and success.
As it turns out, I testify that Jesus will absolutely show up around a a slab of pork ribs and a slam dunk in Memphis, Tennessee! And there’s no doubt in my mind now, that the Holy Spirit can work through leaders while they wash down a plate of fajitas, eat bucket of popcorn and scream for their favorite major college football team.
It was this founder’s dream come true, while driving home from these MVP - Fast Break evenings of fellowship, to hear high caliber leaders feeling comfortable enough with each other to share struggles and needs. Cancer was prayed against, prodigals were called home, burdens and problems of all kinds were lifted and placed at the foot of the cross through prayer. I heard them follow that up by speaking life and encouragement into each other. I believe every faith-centered leader, whether in ministry or business, needs and can be strengthened in moments like these.
The men and women in the MVP Leader Group have intentionally decided to not be alone and have purposefully committed to not be silent. We recognize the power of our encouraging voice, our resources, our eyes to see need, our willingness to step in and step up…in any size or sort of crowd.
We are not without flaw or marks of our own, but we are not timid about them anymore either. We know every leader stands in need and we have purposed to provide morale lift to those who serve in leadership around us. No titles, masks or indifference; We’ve made room in our hands for servant towels of encouragement so that we might bring strength to a brother and double honor to those who serve in the house of the Lord.
This is MVP….
A Very Powerful Crowd!
